United Way Centraide Canada thanks IAM

Toronto, ON – In 2016, United Way Centraide Canada raised more than $522 million to support United Way’s 6,200 programs across the country. Each year the United Way says ‘Thanks a Million’ to leading Canadian corporations, employers and labour organizations that – together with their employees and members – raised $1 million or more in support of United Way Centraide.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers – IAM – raised over $1 million and was one of 92 recipients of an appreciation award presented at a breakfast event this week at the Toronto Board of Trade sponsored by the Toronto and York Region United Way.

“Service to the community is one of our mottos and I can’t think of a better way of demonstrating that slogan than through the donations to the United Way,” said IAM General Vice President Stan Pickthall. “Every year our members across the country step up to the plate and give generously to this great charity to assist in the wonderful work it performs, it’s something we can all be proud of.”
