Montréal, QC – The IAM’s footprint in the Montréal aerospace cluster has expanded again. All 75 workers at Tékalia Aéronautik are the newest members of IAM Local Lodge 712.

“We are pleased to welcome these new members to the big family of Machinists,” said IAM Local Lodge 712 President Yvon Paiement. “Improving work arrangements is teamwork, we look forward to working on their side and giving them the tools to improve their environment.”

With coming to the IAM, many workers are optimistic about the negotiation of their collective agreement.

“We will accompany our new brothers and sisters in the construction of their union life,” explained IAM District 11 Directing Business Representative Pierre Grenier. “We will provide them with the necessary expertise to equip them with a good first contract as well as give them the necessary training and service. Together we can advance their conditions.

Tékalia Aéronautik provides surface treatment and finishes of landing gear components for the aviation industry.

This is the second organizing victory for the IAM in the Montréal area this week. Earlier IAM Local Lodge 1751 welcomed 160 new members from Swissport at Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.

The IAM is the largest union in Québec’s aerospace sector and the largest in Canada.
