Toronto, ON – The IAM has expanded its presence in Ontario’s Healthcare Sector with the addition of more than 2,000 new members at Spectrum Healthcare.

“The IAM has a strong working relationship with Spectrum Healthcare and will start a series of information meetings with our newest healthcare workers over the next few weeks as we  welcome them into the IAM,” explained IAM Grand Lodge Representative Ralph Martin.

Across Ontario, the IAM already represents approximately 500 Healthcare workers at Spectrum.

“This is a continuation of more than a decade of hard work undertaken by the staff of IAM District Lodge 78 to expand our membership in Ontario’s Healthcare sector,” said IAM Canadian General Vice President Stan Pickthall. “The IAM has been organizing workers in this sector for many years, and our reputation for providing great representation to our membership has paid off yet again. We look forward to working with these new members at Spectrum over the coming months and years.”

The IAM also represents Healthcare workers in Retirement Homes and Long Term Care facilities throughout the province of Ontario.

The IAM is a diverse union representing workers in aerospace, air transport, healthcare, transportation, hotels and manufacturing with more than 500,000 active and retired members across North America including 50,000 in Canada. Of these, the IAM represents over 9,000 workers in Healthcare and related industries.
