St. Thomas, ON – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2792 have ratified a new collective agreement with Team Industrial (formerly Hetworth Corporation).

The three year agreement provides for wage increases of 1.5 per cent in the first year and 2 per cent in the second and third year respectively.

“The bargaining committee led by Local Lodge 2792 president Kevin Davis and Plant Committee Chairperson Josh Graves are to be complimented for a job well done,” said Brad Brereton IAMAW District 184 Directing Business Representative. “They did an excellent job in presenting a well researched, timely and reasonable explanation of the needs of this particular workforce to the new employer during recent negotiations.” “There’s not doubt,” added Brereton, “that this played a major role in securing the various increases gained for these members over the life of the new contract."

Other agreement highlights include:

  • First year boot allowance for all employees
  • Shift allowance increases in the second and third year for all employees
  • Bereavement leave for immediate family increased from three to five days for full time employees
  • Group benefits now include Vision Care coverage and increased money for eye exams
  • February statutory holiday now included in collective agreement

The eight full time and eight part-time members provide janitorial services to the DDM Plastics plant in the St. Thomas area.

IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
