For Immediate Release

Toronto, ON – The Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 901 have ratified a new four-year collective agreement with Protectolite Incorporated of Scarborough.

The forty-seven members will received wage increases of 2.75 per cent in the first year, 2.5 per cent in the second and third years respectively and a fourth year increase equal to the CPI  rate as of June 30, 2010 to a maximum of 3 per cent with a minimum increase of 2 per cent.

“We were successful in making gains in wages, benefits, pension and contract language while maintaining the integrity of previously negotiated agreements,” said IAMAW District 78 Business Representative Paul Mitchell. “When you consider the current value of our dollar along with the situation of the manufacturing sector and the bargaining trends throughout Ontario, this is a good deal.”

Other agreement highlights include:

  • Increased vision care
  • Increased Group RRSP contribution
  • Increased Safety Boot Allowance
  • Dispensing Fee Cap increased to $6.00

Protectolite manufactures fibreglass products for various Canadian industries. The IAMAW represents more than 700,000 active and retired members in North America and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense-related industries.
