Suiza
Wednesday October 10, 2007
For Immediate Release
Peterborough, ON – Members of
IAMAW Local Lodge 905 have avoided
strike action at Hispano Suiza by
ratifying a new three-year
collective agreement.
“This
was a very tough round of
bargaining,” said IAMAW Grand Lodge
Representative Bill Shipman. “Under
the current economic climate, this
agreement provides wage increases
above the industry standard.”
The
new contract provides wage increases
of 2.8 percent in each year of the
agreement. Other agreement
highlights include:
-
Pay progression to top rate
shortened from four to three
years
-
Increased vision care benefits
-
Deletion of indiscriminate
layoff language out of line of
seniority
-
Break periods extended from ten
to fifteen minutes
The
33 members manufacture aircraft
electronic components for the world
aviation market. The IAMAW
represents more than 700,000 active
and retired members in North America
and administers more than 5,000
contracts in transportation,
woodworking, aerospace,
manufacturing and defense-related
industries.
