Checkpoint Machinists sign four-year deal!

Miramichi, N.B. – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2418 have ratified a new four-year collective agreement with Checkpoint Pontiac Buick.

The new agreement provides for wage increases of 1.75 per cent in year one, 2 per cent in year two, 2.25 per cent in year three and 2.5 per cent in year four. The agreement also includes a signing bonus of $150.00.

Other agreement highlights include minor contract language improvements and improvements concerning out of town training. The agreement was ratified by a margin of 100 per cent.

The Checkpoint unit consists of Auto Technicians, Apprentice Technicians, Stockroom Attendants and a Service Advisor. IAMAW Local Lodge 2418 now represents four New Brunswick auto dealerships, three in Miramichi and one in Bathurst.

The IAMAW represents more than 700,000 active and retired members in North America and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense-related industries.
