Machinists sign five-year deal with AECL

Chalk River, ON – Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 1522 have ratified a new collective agreement with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited.

The five-year agreement provides for wage increases of 3 per cent retroactive to January 4, 2006, 3.5 per cent retroactive to January 4, 2007, 4 per cent in the third year, and 3.5 per cent in year four and five respectively. The average wage is now $27.42 per hour.

The 65 members provide maintenance services for the Canadian designed and built Chalk River reactor, the first nuclear reactor to enter service in Canada.

IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
