Ottawa, ON Health information professionals, represented by the IAMAW, have signed a new two-year collective agreement with the Canadian Council for Tobacco Control (CCTC).
Under the provisions of the agreement, the members of IAMAW Local Lodge 412 will receive wage increases of 3 per cent retroactive to January 4, 2006 and 3 per cent retroactive to January 4, 2007. The agreement also provides for a wage re-opener on December 31, 2007. The average hourly rate for unit members is now $24.80.
The CCTC is committed to ensuring the timely and practical transfer of critical knowledge and skill development for effective local, provincial, and national action on tobacco issues. CCTC acts as a key facilitating agent to coordinate and support advocates in tobacco control.
IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
