Ottawa, ON Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 412 have cashed in with significant monetary gains in their new collective agreement with BA International Inc.
“We were able to secure a sizeable increase to the member’s hourly rate as compensation for changes to their hours of work,” said IAMAW Grand Lodge Representative Bill Shipman. “The membership is extremely happy with the results of the bargaining.”
The four-year agreement provides Machinists A and Printing Machinist Technicians with a wage increases of 3 per cent retroactive to December 14, 2005, 2 per cent retroactive to December 14, 2006, a 5 per cent special adjustment to reflect the change in hours of work per week effective in the first pay period after signing the contract, 2.5 per cent on December 14, 2007 and 3 per cent on December 14, 2008.
General wage increases for all Machinists B include 2.5 per cent retroactive to December 14, 2005, 3 per cent retroactive to December 14, 2006, 2.5 per cent effective December 14, 2007 and 3 per cent effective December 14, 2008.
General wage increases for all Electricians and Printing Electrician Technicians include 3 per cent retroactive to December 14, 2005, 2 per cent retroactive to December 14, 2006, a 5 per cent special adjustment to reflect the change in hours of work per week effective in the first pay period after signing the contract, 2.5 per cent effective December 14, 2007 and 3 per cent effective December 14, 2008. The agreement also provides for a stand-by call-in process premium of $150 per week rising to $175 during weeks which include a statutory holiday.
The 12 members perform machine shop and maintenance services for BA International which prints currency paper for the Bank of Canada.
