Montreal, QC Air Transat has a new five-year collective agreement with workers in its maintenance unit represented by IAMAW District 140. The new agreement was ratified by a margin of 61 per cent in a nation-wide vote held January 15, 2007.
The contract provides wage increases of 2 per cent and 1 per cent retroactive to May 2006 and November 2006 respectively, 2 per cent in May 2007, 1 per cent in November 2007, 2 per cent in May 2008, 1 per cent in November 2008, 3 per cent in 2009 and 3 per cent in May 2010.
Other agreement highlights include:
- New premium of $ .75/hour for irregular shifts for workers in Vancouver
- Increases for off-base assignments allowance
- Five weeks vacation after 18 years of service as of 2008
- Numerous contract language improvements
The 248 members work at bases in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal.
IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
