For Immediate Release

Pickering, ON – There were smiles all around when the members of IAMAW Local Lodge 901 ratified their first collective agreement with the Howard Marten Company.

“These workers told us wage disparity in various classifications and seniority were the big issues when they joined us this summer and this agreement has addressed those concerns,” said IAMAW District 78 Business Representative Paul Mitchell. The 49 members ratified the three-year agreement by a margin of 86 per cent.

The first agreement provides wage increases of 5.8 per cent in the first year, and 2.5 per cent in each of the second and third years. The average wage is now $19.71 per hour. Other agreement high lights include;

  • The existing benefits package will be maintained
  • Increased tool allowance
  • Vacation benefit improved to five weeks after 25 years of service

The members manufacture and service lubrication and fluid systems for a wide variety of companies in the food, aerospace, mining and power generation sectors.

The IAMAW, among the largest industrial trade unions in North America, represents more than 700,000 active and retired members, and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
