For Immediate Release
Montréal, QC Thirty-three employees of Trans-Sol Aviation Service Lteé (9131-7693 Québec Inc.) have become the newest members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
“Needless to say that some of the employee problems, especially those linked to overtime, have made it easier for us to make the first contact,” said Robert Bélanger, Chief Shop Steward at Penauille Servisair and IAMAW Local Lodge 2309 Executive Committee Member. “Even if many of them had heard about us from some of our members working at the airport, Mr. Bélanger was able to provide us with valuable information in the organising campaign,” explained IAMAW District 140 Organiser Robert Savoie. “It’s this type of teamwork that enhances the image of the Machinists and confirms our place as the union of choice for workers at Pierre Eliot Trudeau Airport in Montréal.”
These new members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2309 work as Station and Customer Service Attendants and provide services for Air Inuit, Air Labrador and Air Canada Jazz (aircraft towing).
The IAMAW represents more than 700,000 active and retired members in North America and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense-related industries.
