Sherbrooke, Quebec, 7 July, 2006. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace worker (IAMAW-QFL-CLC) is pleased to announce the certification to represent the workers at “Fonderie des Appalaches inc.” in Thetford Mines, Quebec.
The Foundry workers will join Local Lodge 922 of the IAMAW in Sherbrooke, Québec. IAM Local Lodge 922 already proudly services the workers of “ICP (furnaces), Sherwood (hockey sticks), OMH (housing), Xerium (pulp and paper), AMF (bakery systems), Groupe Gaudreau (recycling) and Sherbrooke QFLRC”.
The success of this organizing campaign is mainly the result of our constant support for former members of a local company that went bankrupt in 2005. When the new company started, they remembered the support and good service of the IAM. Conducted by apprentice organizer Denis Boudreau, Grand lodge Representative Mario Clermont, Quebec Coordinator Gilles Brosseau and the recruitment team of Local Lodge 922, this campaign was the result of IAM’s good service to members.
The IAMAW is happy and proud to welcome the Workers of “Fonderie des Appalaches inc”. Welcome Brothers and Sisters!
