Sherbrooke QC Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 922 have ratified a new five-year collective agreement with ICP by a margin of 71 per cent.
“It took ten days of negotiations but we succeeded in gaining new contract language on classifications and eliminating the ‘red circling’ of eleven classifications,” said Mario Clermont IAMAW Grand Lodge Representative. “With the wage and pension improvements this is an agreement the members can be happy with.”
The new agreement provides for wage increases of 2.75 per cent in each of the first three years and 3 per cent in each of the remaining two years. In addition there are wage adjustments ranging from 60 cents to $2.10 per hour for some classifications. Other agreement highlights include:
- New language on classifications
- New language on bumping rights with the addition of 7 classifications
- New language on job closures
- New language on pre-retirement
- Pension increases of 5 cents in the first three years, 7 cents in the fourth year and 9 cents in the fifth year
- Maintain the employer dollar for dollar investment cap at $5.25 with QFL Solidarity Fund
- Benefit coverage on glasses increased from $100 to $200
- Increases allowances for work clothing and safety shoes
- Workers choose Health Insurance carrier with 50 per cent of benefit paid by employer
- Elimination of ‘Red Circling’ in eleven classifications
- Creation of new joint committees regarding classifications and equitable overtime sharing
The 156 members are employed in the manufacturing of gas and oil furnaces at the Dettson Division of ICP in Sherbrooke.
