Machinists ink new deal with Novelis

Kingston, ON – The members of IAMAW Local Lodge 54 have ratified a new three-year agreement with Novelis Incorporated.

The agreement provides wage increases of 3 per cent in the first year, 3 per cent in the second year and 3.3 per cent in the third year. It also provides vacation improvements of seven weeks after 30 years service, five weeks after 18 years and four weeks after 10 years. Other agreement highlights include:

  • A fully company-paid Long Term Disability Plan
  • Improved dental coverage
  • Increased vision care coverage
  • Increased medical coverage
  • Improved meal allowances
  • An early retirement option after age 57
  • Improved contract language

The 50 members are employed as millwrights, industrial electricians and roll grinders at the Kingston facility, which manufactures custom cold-rolled aluminum products.
