Machinists ratify five-year deal with Algoma Central

Sault Ste. Marie, ON The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers have ratified a new five-year collective agreement with the Algoma Central Railway.
The new agreement provides a 17 per cent wage increase over the life of the contract. Other improvements include:
- Fifty-five cent ($ .55) shift differential
- Five per cent profit based lump sum payment retroactive to December 31, 2004
- Additional improvements to existing benefits including pension, bereavement leave, dental and life insurance
The 21 members of IAMAW Local Lodge 485 perform maintenance duties for Algoma Central, a subsidiary of CN Rail, which provides passenger and freight service between Sault Ste. Marie and Hearst.
