Sault Ste. Marie, On. Members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2332 have ratified a new four-year collective agreement with automobile dealers in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
The 85 members consisting of mechanics, body men, painters, car cleaners, parts department staff and office workers are employed by four auto dealerships in the city.
The new agreement provides wage increases of 3 per cent in each year for mechanics and 1 per cent in each year for body men and painters. General garage workers hired after the ratification date receive $9.03 per hour, $9.21 per hour effective August 11, 2006 and 2 per cent in each of the remaining years of the agreement. All other classifications including office workers receive increases of 2.5 per cent in each year of the agreement. Red-circled general garage workers at Franklin Prouse Motors will receive a lump sum adjustment on August 11th of each year of the agreement equal to the percent increase per year for other general garage workers.
Other agreement highlights include increased pension contributions of 10 cents per hour in each year of the agreement and the extension of recall rights for employees.
