Machinists ratify new agreement with Go Transit

Toronto – The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers have ratified a new three-year agreement with Go Transit.

The agreement provides wage increases of 2.5 per cent in the first year, 2.75 per cent in the second year and three per cent in the third year. The agreement also provides for increased benefits, the addition of a sixth week of vacation after 29 years of service and the introduction of a shift premium.

The membership ratified the agreement by a 73 per cent majority. The forty workers at the Go Transit call center are members of IAMAW Local Lodge 235.

The IAMAW is among the largest industrial trade unions in North America and represents more than 700,000 active and retired members and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
