CARA workers sign 3-year deal

Montreal, QC - CARA workers, members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2309, ratified a new three-year collective agreement.

The 25 members who provide cafeteria services for Air Canada in Dorval, will receive a $100 signing bonus and wage and benefits increases of 2 per cent in year one, 3 per cent in year two and 3 per cent in year three.

Other agreement highlights include:

  • New statutory holiday (employee’s birthday)
  • IAMAW Pension Plan paid by the employer
  • Union dues separated from company’s account in case of bankruptcy
  • Improved bereavement leave
  • Introduction of cleaning allowance
  • Shoe allowance for certain classifications

The IAMAW is among the largest industrial trade unions in North America and represents more than 700,000 active and retired members and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
