Cambridge, ON A new 3-year agreement with Dana Corporation has brought wage improvements and the promise of more new jobs for members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2330.
The automotive thermal products manufacturer says this deal will allow for the creation of 15-25 new jobs at the Cambridge facility. The contract becomes effective May 5, 2005 and expires May 4, 2008.
Wage increases in the first year of the agreement range from 27 to 42 cents hourly, 36 to 51 cents hourly in the second year and 40 to 55 cents hourly in the third year. Current wages range from $17.35 to $24.05 hourly. There were also improvements in shift premiums; 65 cents hourly for the afternoon shift and 70 cents hourly for the evening shift. All members will receive a $400 early signing bonus. The agreement will also introduce a progressive wage scale for newly hired employees.
Other agreement highlights include improvements to pensions, life insurance benefits, A.D. & D., dental coverage and Long Term Disability.
The 143 members employed by Dana Thermal Products Division include tool & die makers, hand brazers, hand arc welders, material handlers, quality technicians, millwrights, electricians and roving inspectors.
The IAMAW is among the largest industrial trade unions in North America and represents more than 700,000 active and retired members and administers more than 5,000 contracts in transportation, woodworking, aerospace, manufacturing and defense related industries.
