TORONTO, Jan. 20 /CNW/ - Members of the International Association of Machinists have returned to work following a four hour wildcat strike against Air Canada at Pearson Airport's Terminal One. The members of IAMAW Local Lodge 2323 are Station Attendants who perform all the ground handling of aircraft at Air Canada's hub.
A number of unaddressed labour relations issues prompted the strike. Intervention by local IAMAW officials and a promise by Air Canada management that no disciplinary action would be taken against the striking members ended the protest. "We trust that the issues that prompted our members to react will now be addressed and resolved by the Union and the company," said Paul Lefebvre, president of IAMAW Local Lodge 2323.
The Union expects all of its members to report for their scheduled shifts
today.
