Arbitrator Fuels a Good Deal for IAM Toronto members

Toronto – A federal arbitrator has awarded a four-year contract containing significant improvements, to fuelers at Pearson International Airport, represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

“This is a good deal for our members,” said Steve Vodi, IAMAW Airline Coordinator. “The top scale for employees under this collective agreement will be $18.01 an hour.”

The binding arbitration decision resulted after contract talks between IAMAW Local Lodge 2413 and Consolidated Aviation Fueling of Toronto ULC had reached an impasse.
The new agreement runs from December 11, 2003 to December 10, 2007.

Highlights of the new agreement include

  • Improved Human Rights Language
  • Office space for the Union Shop Chairperson
  • Improved Health and Safety Language
  • Improved Grievance Procedures
  • Improved Classification Descriptions
  • Improved Layoff Language
  • Improved Statutory Holidays
  • Shift Premium Increased by 10 cents/hour
  • Increased Tank Cleaning Premiums
  • Improved Clothing Allowance
  • Improved Tool Allowance for Licensed and Apprentice Mechanics
  • New and Improved Pay Scale
  • Benefit Improvements including STD, LTD, Dental and Healthcare
  • Additional Language for Apprentice Mechanics education expenses
