G.E. Technical Association signs servicing agreement with IAM District 11



The 31 employees of G.E. Canada Inc, members of the independent G.E. Technical Association have voted in favour of a service agreement with IAMAW District 11 in Montréal. The servicing agreement was voted on after the expiry of their collective agreement in September 2003.

On January 22, 2004, IAMAW District 11 signed the servicing agreement which includes, among other things, negotiation of the next collective agreement. The highly skilled office and technical staff work on plans for electric turbines.

Business Representative Yves Raymond will service the new members.

Normand Neas, president of IAM Local 1660 in Lachine, Québec, along with other members of the local, who contacted Gérald Tremblay, District 11 Organizer to ask him to set up a meeting with the leaders of the independent union and the IAMAW.

The servicing agreement, which took effect on januar 12, 2004, will be in effect until the IAMAW files for certification with the Québec Labour Board.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) is the largest union in the aerospace and air transport sectors in North America. With a total of 700,000 members, the IAM is present in all sectors of activity. Our members manufacture aircraft, aircraft engines, electric and industrial turbines.
