100% of the ballots cast by employees of Martin Building Maintenance in St. Marys, Ontario were in favour of being represented by the IAM.

Just days after learning that the Martin employees in the City of Stratford voted for the IAM, the Martin employees in the city of St. Marys decided that it would be in their best interest as well. There are four workers at the St. Marys facility.

Our new brothers and sisters clean and maintain factories in St. Marys, which is located about 20 km west of Stratford. Wages and benefits are very low and they know that the IAM will assist them in getting a better deal.

“It’s a great feeling to try and assist workers who have been ill-paid for so long,” said Scott Jackson, Organizer for the Machinists. “They’ve never been able to bargain for anything, let alone do it collectively. This is a great day and we hope to see many more,” he concluded.

The IAM also represents Dura Automotive, Crane Canada, Spartech and Cedarcroft Nursing Home in the City of Stratford.

Stratford is also the birthplace of the Canadian Machinists, chartering Local Lodge 103 in 1890.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) is the largest union in the aerospace and air transport sectors in North America. With a total of 700,000 members, the IAM is present in all sectors of activity. Our members manufacture aircraft, aircraft engines, electric and industrial turbines.
