| Healthcare Workers in Stratford make IAM History in Ontario On June 10th the employees at Cedarcroft Place Retirement Home in Stratford voted 43 to 5 in favour of the IAM. The workforce is comprised entirely of women and the first healthcare workers in Ontario to be represented by the IAM. Wages, benefits and respect were the main issues throughout the campaign. The IAM will be working hard to bring these women up to the industry standard. Although the employer mounted a vigorous campaign to keep the IAM out, the workers realized that the only way they were going to get the wages and respect they deserved was through the IAM. With over 100 years of representing workers in Stratford, today at Dura Automotive, Crane Canada and Spartech, some of the Cedarcroft employees had family, spouses and partners who told them about the representation they would receive with the IAM.
