||
| Press release 12 June, 2002 EMPLOYEES OF HOCHELAGA AÉROSPATIALE VOTE FOR SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH IAMAW DISTRICT 11. On June 4, 2002, the workers at Hochelaga Aérospatiale, a division of Héroux-Devtek, voted more than 90% in favour of a service agreement with IAM District 11 in Montréal. Business Agent, Gérald Tremblay, organizer for District 11 and Business Representative, Pierre Brisebois, held two meetings with the unionized employees of Hochelaga Aérospatiale (an independent union) to explain the benefits of joining the IAMAW. The service agreement, which took effect on 10 June, 2002, will continue until a Request for Certification is filed by the Machinists Union. In the meantime, the 100 employees of Hochelaga Aérospatiale will benefit from all the services offered by District 11. These highly qualified employees work in the manufacture of airplane landing gear assemblies. Says Gérald tremblay, "Two years ago we sent The Journal, our national publication, to the presidents of many independent unions. Sylvain Morin, president of the union at Hochelaga Aérospatiale, kept our address. Realizing that an independent union didn't have the resources to negotiate with an employer smack dab in the middle of an expansion, Sylvain contacted us to find out more". Following two meetings, the executive of the independent union at Hochelaga Aérospatiale reccommended that their members vote in favour of the service agreement with the IAMAW District 11."
