Mettler-Toledo Employees Vote IAMAW

30 May, 2002

Employees at Mettler-Toledo in Thunder Bay have voted for IAM representation in an Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) supervised election.

"This shows the word is getting out about the IAM and the kind of representation we provide," said Scott Jackson, IAM Apprentice Organizer for Ontario.

"Mettler-Toledo employees across Canada are getting to know first-hand that the Machinists Union can, and will, speak for them." he added.

Jackson also thanked Local Lodge 1120 Directing Business Representative Rob Thompson for help in organizing the new members.

The Thunder Bay employees will join their Ontario colleagues in Local Lodge 235.
The IAM already represents Mettler-Toledo employees in Toronto, Hamilton, Burlington, Barrie, St. Catharines, Brantford and Cambridge in Ontario, as well as Mettler-Toledo employees in Quebec and British Columbia.

Mettler-Toledo is a service company which maintains and repairs balances and weigh scales in Canada and more than 100 countries across the world. Local. Lodge 235 is the oldest Machinist local in Ontario representing a diverse workforce. It obtained its charter in 1892.
