Rolls-Royce Cafeteria Workers Choose IAM |
||
| Press release 10 April, 2002 The 10 employees at Aramark, working at the cafeteria at Rolls-Royce Canada, now belong to the machinists Union (QFL, CLC). Shortly after filing a Request for Certification on February 4, 2002, as well as a representation hearing, the Quebec labour Commissioner granted International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers the right to represent the 10 workers. These newest members will become part of Local Lodge 869, which currently represents 850 production workers and security guards at Rolls-Royce Canada. With the certification of the 10 workers, all employees working at the plant at 9500 Côte de Liesse in Lachine are represented by the IAMAW. Office workers at Rolls-Royce are represented by IAMAW Local Lodge 2468. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) is the largest union in the aerospace and air transport sectors in North America. With a total of 700,000 members, the IAM is present in all sectors of activity. Our members manufacture aircraft, aircraft engines, electric and industrial turbines, refrigerators, stoves and Harley-Davidson motorcycles, among others.
