Pat Murphy Remembered

Pat Murphy passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer on December 9, 2010. Pat will be remembered for many things but most of all for his sense of humour and his deep commitment to social justice, human rights, volunteerism, human dignity and the protection and fair representation of his brothers and sisters in the work place. He was a member of the IAMAW in Canada for 27 years. He became a member of IAMAW Local Lodge 2113 in April 1983 when he took a job as a technician at Ford Electronics in Markham. Over the next five years, Pat held various posts within the local including Chief Steward and Negotiating Committee Chair.

On July 1, 1988, he was appointed as an organizer for District Lodge 78 and in 1995; was elected Business Representative for the District. On September 30, 2000, Pat was appointed Special Representative to the Grand Lodge and in 2002, he became a Grand Lodge Representative, a position he held until his death. Pat completed 22 years of distinguished service on staff. We ask that you keep Pat and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
