Machinists Ratify with Wajax Power Systems

Edmonton, AB – Members of IAM Local Lodge 1722 have ratified a new collective agreement with Wajax Power Systems Limited (formerly Waterous Power Systems) by a margin of 88 per cent.
 
The three-year agreement provides wages increase of 4 per cent in the first year and 4.25 per cent in the second and third year respectively. Other agreement highlights include :
Improved vacation entitlements – 3 weeks after one year and the addition of a 6th week of vacation after 25 years
Improved contract language including protection for refusing to cross picket lines during a legal strike, improved steward allotments, improved grievance response times, and extending leaves of absences for Union Business
Increased STD and LTD benefits
Increased dental coverage
Vision care including employee laser eye surgery up to $1,000.00
Increased Life Insurance coverage
 
The 70 members consist of Service Advisors, Parts and Warehouse personnel, Heavy Duty Technicians and Welders.
 
Wajax Power Systems sells, rents and services new and used Detroit series engines for truck, construction and industry use; as well as Allison Transmissions and Mobile Power Systems for industry throughout Alberta and Western Canada.
