Machinists Ratify First Agreement with Keewatin Air

Winnipeg, MB – Members of IAM Local Lodge 2247 have ratified their first collective agreement with Keewatin Air.
 
The two-year agreement provides the following wage increases for Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) according to their home base of operations:
 
Winnipeg AME – $ .55/hour in the first year and $ .50/hour in the second year
Iqaluit, Churchill or Rankin Inlet AME – $ .70/hour in the first year and $ .60/hour in the second year
 
Wage increases for Apprentices or Storesperson amount to $ .40/hour in the first year and $ .35/hour in the second year. Crew Chiefs will receive a wage increase of $ .55/hour in the first year and $ .60/hour in the second year. All classifications will receive a $400.00 signing bonus. Other agreement highlights include :
 
Premium increases of $ .50/hour for AME 1 and $1.00/hour for AME 2
Premium increases of $ .50/hour for Drive Authority classification
Clothing allowance increase
 
 
The 25 members include Aircraft Maintenance Engineers, Apprentice AME’s, Quality Assurance Assistants, Maintenance and Storespersons.
 
Keewatin Air serves the Canadian Arctic from its main base in Winnipeg with scheduled service to Sanikiluaq in Hudson Bay, Churchill, Manitoba, Rankin Inlet and Iqaluit, Nunavut. It operates a fleet of PC 12, Beech 1900, Lear and King Air 200 aircraft. Keewatin Air operates aircraft ground support at bases in Churchill, Manitoba, Rankin Inlet and Iqaluit, Nunavut, as well as charter and Air medical services throughout Nunavut, Manitoba and beyond.
