Montréal, QC – Members of IAM Local Lodge 869 have ratified a new agreement with Rolls- Royce Canada by the narrowest of margins – 51.6 per cent.

“Our bargaining team recommended rejection of this offer but we operate in a democracy and the membership has the final say on this matter,” explained IAM District Lodge 11 Business Representative Claude Boisvert. “This result clearly shows the membership was divided over the introduction of a new pension plan by the employer. Current employees will remain with the Defined Benefit pension plan but any new hires will have to take a Defined Contribution Pension Plan.”

The new three-year agreement provides wage increases of 3 per cent in each year.

The 835 members maintain and overhaul civil and military aircraft engines. They also repair fan blades, combustion chambers, turbine blades and vanes. The IAM is the largest union in the Canadian aerospace industry.
