Machinists ink new deal with Lounsbury Automotive

Miramichi, NB – Members of IAM Local Lodge 2418 have ratified a new collective agreement with Lounsbury Automotive.

The three-year agreement provides a one-time wage adjustment of $ .25 per hour in the first year as well as a wage increase of 2 per cent in the first year, a 2 per cent wage increase in the second  year and a 3 per cent wage increase in the third year. Other agreement highlights include:

  • Able to change the sick leave to sick leave/personal days
  • Increased boot allowance
  • Increased tool allowance
  • Employer to supply winter jackets

“The unanimous acceptance by the membership is vindication of the hard work put in by bargaining committee members Jason Richardson and Ken Munroe,” said IAM Grand Lodge Representative Rick Arsenault.

The 18 members consist of mechanics, service writers and parts personnel. The IAM also represents workers at Lounsbury Automotive in Bathurst, New Brunswick. The IAM represents more than 1500 workers in auto dealerships on Vancouver Island, the lower mainland of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.
