Dear Sisters and Brothers:
This will serve as official notice of our IAM North American Transportation Conference for 2015.
The 2015 Conference will be held at the Diplomat Hotel located at 3655 South Ocean Drive, Hollywood, Florida commencing at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 through Friday, August 28, 2015.
Registration will be held on Monday evening, August 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and continue the following morning at 8:00 a.m.
The Transportation Conference will again encompass a combined meeting of delegates and staff from the airline and railroad industries. Everyone will participate in the general sessions of the Conference. Committees will be established to address topics of mutual concern, and other committees will consider industry-related issues. When the work of the committees has been completed, they will report back to the Conference so that every delegate will be involved in shaping our future goals.
Our entire Transportation Department Staff of Grand Lodge Representatives will be participating in this conference.
Lodges should give careful consideration to their membership structure and attempt to send a balanced delegation, reflective of the different companies and/or classifications within the Lodge. Of course, the Lodge’s finances and applicable bylaws will need to be considered since all expenses of the delegates will be borne by their respective Lodge.
The enclosed Delegate Form should be completed with the appropriate Lodge seal and returned to the IAMAW Canadian office by each District and Local Lodge Recording Secretary at the earliest opportunity, but no later than May 31, 2015. This is extremely important because we will need to know the number of delegates and representatives attending so that committee assignments can be made.
HOTEL RESERVATIONS
The Diplomat has set aside a block of rooms with a guaranteed rate of $149.00 per day, plus tax, for single or double occupancy. To make reservations, call the Hotel directly at 1 855 689 2911. When calling, be sure to inform the Hotel that you are attending the IAMAW Transportation Conference in order to receive the special room rate.
Please make your reservations no later than Friday, July 1, 2015.
I strongly urge District Lodge 140 and Local Lodges in Canada to respond to the opportunity to participate with us in August as we plan for the future.
