IAM District 11 Golf Tournament scores big for Dion Foundation

La Chute, QC – One hundred seventy-seven golfers took to the fairways of Golf La Chute over the weekend in the IAM District 11 golf tournament on behalf of the Foundation Maman Dion.

“This tournament keeps growing every year and this time we filled the two 18-hole courses in La Chute to near capacity,” explained IAM Québec Coordinator Dave Chartrand. “This year we raised over $46,000 from the tournament and the Bombardier Employees Charity Fund with contributions from members of IAM Local Lodge 712, donated a further $10, 000,” said a pleased IAM District Lodge 11 President and Directing Business Representative Pierre Grenier.

Foundation Maman Dion has been working since 2006 to promote the development of self-esteem and the desire to succeed in the schooling of young Quebecers from disadvantaged backgrounds ages 6 to 16. The aim of the Foundation is to provide all Québec children with an equal opportunity to succeed, provide financial respite for vulnerable families and /or financial hardships, boosting children’s pride and self-esteem and develop business partnerships with various companies and organizations like the IAM.

To fulfill its mission, the Foundation has set up a structure for the redistribution of school supplies and clothing for children between the ages of 6 to 16 attending elementary and secondary schools in Québec, both French and English. In addition, each selected child receives a certificate for a vision and glasses examination as required.

“The turnout was tremendous and I can’t thank our sponsors and the participants enough,” said Grenier.
