Whereas, the total increase in manufacturing jobs in the …. area has increased by a mere x jobs and the total income rates have declined by $yyyy as reported in the last two statistic filings, and we are about to lose xxx jobs in the yyyy industry; and
Whereas, local charities have been overwhelmed with the needs of individuals within the community, and at the same time have experienced a decrease in donations due to the financial decline of previously generous donors who are no longer working or have received a decrease in wages; and
Whereas, our town, and municipal services, along with the education and health care system, have been impacted due to loss in revenues; and
Whereas, all businesses across the area are adversely affected when a decline in work and income of this magnitude is experienced, especially home builders, automobile dealerships and repair facilities, restaurants, recreational facilities and smaller support manufacturing facilities; and
Whereas, the loss of a paycheque or a decline in wages affects the worker’s entire family, not only financially, but emotionally, causing a strain on social services, mental health, general health care and law enforcement agencies;
Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that I, aaaa bbbb, Mayor of the Town of Eureka, on behalf of all of Town Council, do hereby proclaim November, 2006, as
Grow Eureka Month
In honour and support of our town’s greatest asset its talented and trained workers. I and the Eureka Council pledge to work diligently to bring new quality manufacturing jobs, which provide a living wage to the Eureka area and to assist local businesses in preserving existing jobs.
Be It Further Resolved, that we endorse the I.A.M. Grow Eureka and Jobs Worth Fighting For campaign and commit to lobby public officials and to educate the community about the importance of saving quality jobs in our community.
