Babineaux bids communicators farewell!

Austin, Tex – Outgoing IAM General Vice President Dianne Babineaux gave her final address to IAM Communicators this morning at the 2017 IAM Communications Conference.

She told the 125 delegates, including 20 from Canada, that all of them are a big part of the Union’s success. “It will be tough to retire but I see only great things ahead from all of you,” she said. Adding to the conference theme of  Voice Activation, she asked delegates, “We need to tell our stories, are you ready to activate our voices.” The response was a very loud yes!

Dianne Babineaux served in a variety of positions within the IAM before becoming the Chief of Staff for the International President in 2000. She served in that capacity for 13 years before becoming the first African American woman to served as General Vice President. She has long been an advocate for civil, human and women’s rights. She will retire on June 30, 2017.
